Appointment of SMI Maritime Technology Advisory Panel Members

The Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) has officially appointed nine (9) distinguished technology leaders and experts as Members of the second SMI Maritime Technology Advisory Panel (TAP) for a two-year term.

The Panel, to be chaired by SMI’s Executive Director Mr Heng Chiang Gnee, would be reviewing R&D projects, initiatives and proposals received by SMI to enhance assurance on high industry impact, relevance and scientific merits.

With the increase in the level of R&D programmes and activities, SMI announced the formation of the inaugural SMI Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) in October 2013 that comprised of technology leaders from the industry and recognised academic experts.

The first SMI TAP, which completed its two-year term on 31 December 2016, consisted of two panels serving different industry domains, namely the Maritime TAP and the Offshore TAP.

The newly appointed SMI Maritime TAP, which would be serving a two-year term between 2017 and 2018, would provide technical advisory to SMI in the maritime domain of port, shipping and maritime services.

Commencing their roles with effect from 2017, the list of SMI Maritime TAP Members who will be serving in the Panel is:

About the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI)
